Beginning Climbing Workshop - is the best way to get into the groove, if you're coming out for the first time here is what to expect.
Eight hours of instruction with a student to guide ratio of 3:1. Fast and effective is the basis of this day outing, with an emphasis on personal and team safety. Learn the basics of gear and technique in our outdoor classroom. Then immediately put what you've learned to the test as you go vertical that afternoon. Instruction includes basic gear used (harness, helmet, shoes, and rope), effective movement over rock, and introduction to the world famous crack climbing of Vedauwoo.
Just 15 miles east of Laramie, Vedauwoo offers the closest recreation area for High Plains. We meet clients at a pre-determined location, then hike the short approach to the climb. With top ropes already set up clients are given instruction on proper fitting of harnesses and shoes. They are given a brief history of climbing at Vedauwoo, provided with detailed safety instruction, and shown how to tie in. Starting off on easier climbs gives clients confidence and the experience of success. After a great buffet lunch the instruction continues focusing on the more difficult techniques of climbing Vedauwoo cracks.
