2 Day/1 Night Grand Canyon Train Ride and Tour in Scottsdale, Arizona

Experience the beauty of Sedona, the unique history of Route 66 and the Grand Canyon on your 2 day tour with a ride on the famous Grand Canyon Railway. You will be treated to two days of touring, which include an overnight in Williams Arizona, the famous turning point where travelers would turn north off Route 66 and drive to the Grand Canyon, as well as a full tour of the Grand Canyon National Park. In addition to the stunning beauty of the Grand Canyon, you will also enjoy a 2 hour ride on the Grand Canyon Railway which winds through the Coconino National Forest. Arizona's wonder of the world and historic landmark are yours to explore on this two day journey through time.

Guests will enjoy the comfort of private leather captain's chairs in custom vans that accommodate small groups of no more than 13 passengers. Your guide will provide you with a 1st class experience on this unforgettable tour.

Day 1 - To see Arizona’s rich history, the Grand Canyon Railway Tour with overnight stay gives you an excellent chance to marvel at the spectacular landscapes of Sedona and the Grand Canyon, admire the craftsmanship of Navajo artisans, and best of all enjoy riding the Grand Canyon Railway. After departing the Phoenix metro area, Sedona will be our first stop along the tour. Guests will have a chance to photograph the famous Red Rocks, stretch their legs and take a quick walk around this picturesque town. While you are enjoying Sedona, your guide will pick up your excellent picnic lunch made fresh that morning before departing to the Grand Canyon. Upon departing Sedona, the tour passes through Oak Creek Canyon, a scenic byway that winds through 2000 vertical feet of a red walled canyon to emerge surrounded by the dense ponderosa pines of the Coconino National Forest.

Atop the Mogollon Rim, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff on our way to the historic Route 66 stop of Williams, AZ. Your guide will assist in your checking into The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel at approximately 10:30am. The remainder of the day will be yours to enjoy Williams, explore the Railway Depot, Native Pueblo Gallery, or do an afternoon horseback ride with one of the local vendors.

Day 2 - This morning will be an early morning wake up. You will check in for your Grand Canyon Railway tour at 8:30am for a 9:00am departure from Williams to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. You will enjoy views of the Coconino National Forest from your seat on the train. Once you arrive at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon you be treated to the magnificent views that open up in front of you while standing on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. During your time at the South Rim Village of the Grand Canyon, you will re-unite with your Detours Guide at approximately 12:30pm at the El Tovar Lodge.

While at the South Rim of the National Park, you will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited amount of photographs, and relax with the best seat in the house. Not only will you have a chance to explore the South Rim Village, we'll also explore a 30-mile section of road that winds along the rim of the Canyon, showcasing the best rim views and history along the way. Returning to Phoenix, Scottsdale or Flagstaff from the Canyon, we will enjoy views of the Navajo Nation and Painted Desert, with a stop at an authentic Navajo trading post.

  • The hotel in Williams will be 3-4 stars. The accommodation has been chosen to give passengers the best access to the Grand Canyon area. For those traveling alone there single occupancy rates available.
  • It is imperative that you have both a dental and medical check-up and we recommend that you ensure your Tetanus inoculations are up to date. Our drivers and guides are first aid qualified and a comprehensive medical kit is carried at all times.
  • Individual luggage must be kept to a MAXIMUM of one piece of luggage less than 50 pounds or one daypack less than or equal to 40 litres. It is recommended to travel with a small day pack for easy access to camera, sun block, and clothing. It is recommended to plan ahead and arrange to store bulky items pre-tour. (We advise our clients to pack as lightly as possible)
  • Tempreatures in Sedona and Grand Canyon are typically 15-30° cooler than Phoenix and vary by season. We recommend our guests bring jackets in the event of changing weather patterns.
  • Travel insurance is a vital aspect to booking a holiday, giving you protection against unforeseen circumstances that could otherwise spoil your holiday. It is important that you purchase travel insurance that properly covers your participation in whatever activities you may undertake at the time that you make your booking.
